Prevention Tips against Pantry Moth

The most common moth to infest warehouses are the tropical warehouse moth, Indian meal moth, almond moth, and clothes moth.

  • Keep the products sealed and protected in a clean environment at all stages from farm to fork.
  • Maintain a clean and pest-free environment in your pantry and ensure all food is put into well-sealed packaging.
  • Implement a good sanitation and product rotation program to decrease the risk that moths pose to stored product.
  • Inspect and Reject infested materials at the receiving areas.
  • Use a vacuum cleaner inside the store to get rid of any remains of food, cocoons, as well as larvae, eggs, and pupae.
  • Maintain storage area always Cool and dry.
  • Close entry and hiding points (cracks and voids) using silicone or any construction sealant.
  • Ensure that all windows are sealed and place Window screens or nets.
  • Make sure to consume older products first (first in, first out).
